applesauce? who would have thought?!

November 4, 2012

Yes, it’s true. I’m one of those crazy people that doesn’t love syrup on their pancakes. But butter on the other hand… MMM! I know it isn’t the healthiest thing to be slathering butter all over my delicious fluffy pancakes. But I need something to moisten the short stack since I’m not a syrup fan. Lucky for me, I just heard of a new replacement for this unhealthy habit, applesauce! Who would have thought?

First and foremost a cup of applesauce made with no added sugars contains no fat, has up to 80% of your daily vitamin C intake, is a good source of fiber and is only 100 calories!

Replacing butter with applesauce on your pancakes isn’t the only thing you can do. You can use applesauce as a substitute for baking and in plenty of other recipes. It’s a great way to satisfy that sweet craving while being nutritionally conscious. Use it with potatoes, in brownie or cake recipes and even on top of your breakfast muffin.
